On Wednesday, Giant Games announced the official Western launch of its hit co-op horror looter, Tomb Busters, available now on PC, iOS, and Android. This marks the first time the game is accessible outside of China, where it has already amassed a staggering 200 million downloads and boasts an average of 10 million daily active users.
In Tomb Busters, players step into the boots of a tomb raider working for The Supernatural Company, delving into ancient ruins packed with deadly traps and terrifying creatures rooted in Chinese folklore. Giant Games has designed these monsters to maximize the perfect blend of high-stakes horror, emergent comedy, and multiplayer chaos.
To survive, squads will have to watch out for a unique bestiary of creatures, including:
- The Red Panda: A deceptively cute but highly aggressive creature. If left to cry, it mutates into a massive, terrifyingly un-cuddly monster.
- The Alternate: A shapeshifter that copies the appearance of another player, even down to cosmetics, to lure unsuspecting players into a deadly embrace.
- The Jiangshi: A hopping vampire that hides in cabinets to ambush isolated players. They are blindingly fast, and their venomous attacks will poison you—forcing your character to hilariously hop around like a Jiangshi for 10 seconds.
Players can brave the tombs solo or team up in a four-player squad, choosing from a roster of characters with unique roles and abilities. The gameplay loop is high-risk, high-reward: the deeper you go, the better the loot—but dying means losing absolutely everything. To keep players on their toes, random weather events like dense fog, solar eclipses, and blood moons dynamically alter matches.
Built from the ground up to deliver a gameplay environment that is genuinely frightening alone but hilarious with friends, Giant Games views Tomb Busters as a long-running global live-service title. The studio has already begun rolling out player events, creator activities, and a dedicated creator program to foster the game’s community.
“When you’re exploring a dark ancient tomb alone — strange sounds, sudden monsters, deadly traps around every corner — it’s a genuinely intense horror experience,” said Producer Zhu at Giant Games. “But when your squad is with you, each player brings a different role and ability, and that cooperation turns fear into fun. Someone gets greedy, triggers a trap, unleashes a swarm of monsters on the whole team, and suddenly everyone’s screaming over each other on voice chat — that’s where the magic happens.”
Tomb Busters is available to download now on PC and mobile platforms.
