Doritos Launches 80s-Style Telethon for ‘Stranger Things’ Ahead of Final Season

Earlier this month, Doritos announced new limited-edition flavors in celebration of “Stranger Things 5.” Now, to promote the newest flavor—Doritos Collisions Stranger Pizza x Cool Ranch—Doritos is taking fans back to 1987 for the ‘Doritos Telethon for Hawkins,’ a retro-inspired telethon prompting fans to leave bold messages of support for the fictional town.

Starting today, fans can call 1-855-4-HAWKINS and speak with 80s legends like David Hasselhoff, Paula Abdul, and everyone’s favorite alien life form, ALF. The telethon phone number first appeared on bags of the brand’s newest flavor, Doritos Collisions Stranger Pizza x Cool Ranch, sparking speculation and thousands of early calls from eager fans. Now the phone lines are open, allowing fans to leave a message whenever they want, sharing their words of support for the town, or sending love to their favorite characters. Select fan messages will have a shot at being broadcast across Doritos’ social channels and on high-profile billboards throughout the campaign.

“Doritos has always been about bold flavor and even bolder creative – so when ‘Stranger Things’ called, first we geeked out as huge fans, and then we quite literally answered with a full-blown 1987-style telethon. The ‘Telethon for Hawkins’ is our rally for the fandom: think a nostalgic lineup of 80s icons like Paula Abdul, David Hasselhoff, and ALF (seriously), and a call-in experience that feels like it was beamed straight from 1987. From retro visuals to surprise moments, we designed every element to make fans feel like they were part of the mission dialing into a snack-fueled hotline to the upside down.”

The ‘Doritos Telethon for Hawkins’ isn’t a one-and-done experience, though. There are hidden easter eggs built into the experience, which means you’ll want to keep calling to hear everything the campaign has in store. Before the final season, there may be even more nostalgic phone experiences coming to major cities – follow along on Doritos social media for the latest updates.

Doritos’ lineup of limited-edition flavors and chips dressed in “Stranger Things”-themed packaging are on store shelves now.
