Elvira, Mistress of the Dark to Meet Her Demise in New 40th Anniversary Comic

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and Dynamite, have announced the unthinkable as part of Elvira’s 40th anniversary. Later this year, the titular horror hostess will meet her demise in a special comic release.

“The Death of Elvira” is a 40-page special release from writer David Avallone and illustrator Silvia Califano. Avallone has been the core collaborator and the writing voice of Elvira since she made her return to comics in 2018. Califano more recently joined the Elvira comics world and is working on the upcoming Elvira comic book series “Elvira in Horrorland.”

But if you think this is the end for Elvira, you’d be dead wrong. “I’ve done a lot of wild things as the Mistress of the Dark,” said Elvira. “Everything from film to television, music to comics – even wearing wired headphones and yoga pants! But there was one huge item left on my bucket list – DYING! Don’t panic horror hounds, there’s more to this spine-tingling tale than meets the eye!”

In “The Death of Elvira,” the Mistress of the Dark must solve the biggest mystery she’s ever faced: her own murder…albeit from the grave. At her star-studded wake, directors, actors, and more all show up to share their favorite memories of the horror icon in flashback form, and one of them is the killer. Read along, and see if you can figure it out in time!

Like many of Elvira and Dynamite’s recent releases, they are turning to crowdfunding to release the project, with a campaign through Indiegogo. Like with past campaigns, fans and collectors have various options to choose from, including six different covers (including “virgin” and metallic), signed copies, trading card add-ons, and more. Pledge options range from as low as $20 to up to $666.

This special comic release is due to be released this June. For more information and to back the project, visit the Death of Elvira Comic Book Indiegogo page.
