ETCH and Anarchists United Studios have set a Sept. 16 premiere date for “Cassie Workman Is Witchy AF,” an eight-part adult comedy series debuting exclusively on YouTube.
The weekly series blends comedy and documentary formats to explore the history and philosophy of occultism and magic. Set inside a fictional occult bookstore, creator and host Cassie Workman guides viewers through a world of ritual magic, identity, demons, tarot, love, death, and possible salvation. Topics covered throughout the season include Aleister Crowley, John Dee, Santa Muerte, and the secret history of Hollywood.
The show stars Workman—an acclaimed writer, comedian, musician, and visual artist—who will be joined by guests that include Shirley Manson, frontwoman of Garbage, comedian Ben Russell, and a cast of evil puppets and demons. Practical effects were crafted by Monster in My Closet (“Smile 2”), while Direct Message provided custom puppetry, featuring marionette sequences designed and directed by Joel Goulet.
Production took place on location in Asbury Park, New Jersey, at the Wolfe & Kron bookstore and Asbury’s oldest gay bar, Georgies. The project was brought to life by a predominantly women- and LGBTQIA+-led cast and crew, directed by award-winning filmmaker Hannah Welever, with cinematography by Frederic Fasano (“Mother of Tears”).
“Cassie Workman Is Witchy AF” marks the third series financed and produced by ETCH since its 2024 founding by Philip Gelatt, Will Battersby, and Morgan Galen King, following “First Word On Horror” and “Art Show! With Captain Skinner.” It is also among the flagship releases from Wachowski’s Anarchists United Studios, spearheaded alongside Sarah Marie Flores and Lawrence Mattis to elevate genre projects from underrepresented creators.
