Everything We Know About ScareLA 2018 So Far

While Midsummer Scream has already launched ticket sales and announced an Elvira Mistress of the Dark panel, things have been a bit quieter on the ScareLA front.  Their website hasn’t been updated since last year and their social media has been equally dormant.  However this past weekend ScareLA came out from shadows when they appeared at a booth at Halloween Club’s Spook Show 6.  At the event ScareLA began special Spook Show only pre-sales of tickets and shared some information about this year’s event.  Here’s what we know so far:

ScareLA will be held August 25 & 26, 2018

Unlike last year’s ScareLA, which was held in early August and one week after Midsummer Scream, ScareLA has moved to the end of August for 2018.  This is a blessing for fans in the Halloween and horror communities as it gives people the chance to recover after the long weekend of Midsummer Scream and is a bit more financially doable as it spaces out the two major SoCal conventions by about a month.

ScareLA is returning to the LA Convention Center

Last year, ScareLA moved to a new location at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  Previously the convention had been held at the Pasadena Convention Center, but the larger LA facility allowed organizers to spread out haunts, vendors, and presentations across 200,000 square feet, which helped set a mood and tone for the areas you were visiting.

This year’s theme appears to be “Descend Into Darkness”

This quote appeared on promotional material at Spook Show and also appeared in the body text of a recent email from the convention.

ScareLA will be “an all NEW, fully immersive show”

It’s unclear what this means, but it appeared on some of the promotional material handed out at Spook Show.  Additionally, their latest email blast said the following, “Hosting our BIGGEST & BADDEST interactive experiences to-date! FULL ON haunted houses, dark entertainment in an all-new fully immersive format.”

Presale tickets go on sale Friday, April 13

ScareLA has finally announced online presale dates, and they will fittingly go on sale on Friday the 13th.  Ticket details have not been released, but at Spook Show they were selling single day, weekend, and some sort of VIP tickets for the event.   Tickets will go on sale at midnight on Friday the 13th through the ScareLA website.  If you subscribe to their email list, a recent email suggested that discount codes would be sent ahead of the pre-sale.
