Blumhouse Games and developer Vermila Studios have officially released their first-person survival horror debut, “Crisol: Theater of Idols.” Now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the title marks a macabre new entry for the horror-focused publisher.
Set in “Hispania”—a twisted, early 20th-century reimagining of Spain—players take on the role of Gabriel, a soldier on a divine mission for the Sun God. The beautiful but malevolent island of Tormentosa serves as the backdrop for a story steeped in religious iconography and unsettling folklore.
What sets the game apart from standard shooters is its high-stakes combat: Gabriel must sacrifice his own health to power his weapons. With no traditional ammo pickups, every shot fired brings you closer to death, forcing a constant, nerve-wracking balance between offense and survival. You’ll need to manage these limited resources while navigating eerie streets filled with staggering statues and monstrous entities brought to life by dark folklore.
In “Crisol: Theater of Idols,” players will uncover the chilling history and twisted folklore of Tormentosa, a beautiful but malevolent island. Rooted in horror and history, the game fuses historical events, folklore, and religious undertones to create a uniquely horrifying world. Face off against staggering statues brought to life and unravel a dark narrative that blurs the line between reality and nightmare. In a desperate fight for survival, players must sacrifice their own blood to use as ammunition against the horrors that lurk around every corner.
“Crisol: Theater of Idols” is available now for $17.99. PC players can currently grab a 10% launch discount on Steam for a limited time.
