Folklore-based supernatural thriller “The Town That Takes” is heading to digital platforms this fall following its summer limited theatrical release.
Directed by Britt Bankhead in his directorial debut, the action-horror feature will be available to rent or purchase digitally across North America starting Nov. 7 on digital platforms including Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango. Bankhead also co-wrote the script alongside Jonathan Blaze.
The film stars Bankhead as Dean Richards, an Army veteran traveling through rural North Carolina following the sudden death of his ex-wife. Hoping to rebuild a relationship with his 12-year-old son, Wyatt (Nico Tirozzi), Dean’s trip takes a terrifying turn when the pair stops in a remote backwoods town plagued by ritualistic murders and reports of inhuman creatures.
When Wyatt mysteriously vanishes, Dean forms an uneasy alliance with local detective Douglas O’Shea (Miles Mussenden) to uncover the horrifying truth behind an ancient legend known only as Croatoan. With something sinister lurking in the surrounding forests and the town descending into chaos, Dean must confront an evil beyond comprehension before he loses his son forever.
The ensemble cast includes Grace Patterson (“Slotherhouse”), Mike Markoff (“Hit Man”), and Tirozzi, who recently appeared in HBO’s “The Penguin.” Mussenden previously starred in Marvel’s “Cloak & Dagger.”
“The Town That Takes” is produced by Bankhead Productions.
