From ‘Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches’ to ‘Wednesday’: 5 Festively Frightful Yule Logs for the 2025 Holiday Season

The television Yule log has been a holiday fixture since 1966, when it started on New York City’s WPIX. While the tradition once meant watching a fireplace on Christmas Day, it has evolved drastically—from a traditional log-burning set to local Christmas music to Shudder’s annual Halloween Ghoul Log. This holiday season, the offerings are a perfect mix of scary and merry, thanks to streaming services getting in on the trend with logs inspired by their most popular horror and supernatural shows. Here are five festively frightful Yule Logs to check out.

Fallout: The Ghoul Log

The latest Yule Log arrival shows up in support of season two of Prime Video’s “Fallout”. It features Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, introducing the 90-minute “Ghoul Log” featuring a burning arm, classic Christmas tunes, and plenty of “Fallout” Easter Eggs.

Wednesday Ghoul Log

Another recent addition to the spooky Yule Log lineup is inspired by Netflix’s “Wednesday.” There is a one-hour version of the Ghoul Log available on the streaming service; however, on YouTube, fans can enjoy an eight-hour version of the yule log featuring four frightful fireplaces from the world of “Wednesday.”

Stranger Things: Fireplace

Immerse yourself in the nostalgia of season one of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” with a relaxing rendition of the Byers’ living room, complete with the alphabet wall and a crackling fireplace. This one-hour yule log experience is exclusive to Netflix.

Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches: Winter Solstice Yule Log

AMC+ subscribers can celebrate the Winter Solstice with a one-hour Yule Log experience inspired by AMC’s “Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches.” The “Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches: Winter Solstice Yule Log” is exclusive to AMC+.

Chucky Yule Log

First introduced in 2022 as a 10-hour loop on YouTube, the “Chucky” Yule Log, based on the SYFY series “Chucky,” has since been removed from the network’s YouTube channel; however, Peacock subscribers can still experience the Yule Log in an abridged one-hour version on the streaming service. Pulled from the final moments of the season two finale of “Chucky,” the Yule Log features Chucky warming himself by the fire in a holiday sweater and holding a mug. The loop is set to several Christmas songs and has a few surprises from the show’s second season peppered throughout.

Shudder’s A Very Ghoul Log Christmas

Introduced in 2021 as a holiday variation of the horror streaming service’s annual Ghoul Log, this special holiday edition of the Ghoul Log combines a traditional Yule Log with a candlelit Jack O’ Lantern. Shudder’s A Very Ghoul Log Christmas is available to both AMC+ and Shudder subscribers.
