‘Ghostbusters’ Set to Return to Comics in 2023

Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman on stage at Ecto Fest

It’s been nearly two years since we’ve seen a new comic book featuring the Ghostbusters. The last release, “Ghostbusters: Year One,” was released by IDW Publishing in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. But during Sony Pictures’ Ghostbusters Day Ecto-Fest, “Ghostbusters:” Afterlife” filmmakers Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan announced that the Ghostbusters would be returning to comics with an all-new publishing partner.

Next year, Dark Horse Comics will release an all-new limited edition series that will tell an exclusive, unique Ghostbusters story. While no plot details were shared during the event, Kenan shared that the series will be in canon and part of the growing Ghostbusters story that began in 1984 and was revived in 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.”

Like many of the other Ecto-Fest announcements, few other details were provided. However, a tweet from Dark Horse Comics late on Wednesday suggested more information may be coming soon.
