“Fortnitemares,” the annual Halloween in-game event in “Fortnite,” returned on October 9, and with it came the tease of several new skins, that included horror icons like Art the Clown from “Terrifier,” Ghostface from the “Scream” franchise, The Grabber from “Black Phone,” and Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” franchise. Unfortunately, release dates for the skins have been mostly under wraps, but Jason Universe has confirmed that the Jason outfit, exclusive emotes, and more will arrive in the Item Shop on Friday, October 17.
Jason has already been terrorizing players in the battle royale as a boss enemy who hunts nearby players with low health, rewarding those who defeat him with powerful loot, including a mythic weapon. But Friday will mark the first time players will be able to put on the mask themselves and play as the infamous Crystal Lake killer.
Those who want to try and get their hands on the Jason outfit early can compete in the Jason Haunted Cup tournament taking place today, October 16, with top-performing teams in each region winning early access to the Jason outfit.
This is the second game Jason Voorhees has found his way into for the 2025 Halloween season. Earlier this month, he slashed his way into “Call of Duty” as part of its in-game Halloween event, “The Haunting.”
“Dropping Jason into iconic games like Call of Duty and Fortnite is such a killer crossover–literally,” said Sheri Conn, Chief Marketing Officer of Horror, Inc. “Players get to step into the boots of a horror legend, but on entirely new terms. It’s a chance to see Jason unleashed in worlds with different rules, mechanics, and mayhem.”
Additionally, new apparel and collectibles inspired by these collaborations will launch in the coming months from partners, including Youtooz, who will bring Tactical Jason from “Call of Duty” to life for the first time with a new collectible figure.
