LEGO Fan Designer Making Another Attempt to Get the Universal Monsters Their Very Own Brick Set

Five years after first attempting to get a Universal Monsters LEGO set created via LEGO Ideas, LEGO Fan designer Mason Betterly, better known as ‘SpectralBricks’ in the LEGO Ideas community, is giving it another go with an updated Universal Monsters LEGO Ideas project submission.

Betterly’s design is made up of approximately 2,250 bricks that create a decrepit castle. Within its walls are several recognizable locations inspired by the classic Universal Monsters films. The castle is meant to house some of your favorite Universal Monsters, with Betterly proposing six core characters, including:

  • Count Dracula
  • The Frankenstein Monster
  • The Wolf Man
  • The Bride of Frankenstein
  • The Invisible Man
  • The Phantom of the Opera

While the design is relatively similar to the original submission, Betterly has added some minor cosmetic changes to the overall piece for this latest submission. Inside the castle, you’ll still find a grand foyer with a glowing chandelier and secret passageway, a secret lab with a special lift function to help bring Frankensteinโ€™s Monster to life, catacombs, a dungeon, a music room, and a bell tower.

As of this writing, the updated LEGO Ideas submission has already racked up 972 supporters. The design has 398 days left to reach the 10,000 supporter goal to be eligible for consideration for being turned into an actual LEGO product. Along the way, Betterly has decided to unveil additional Universal Monsters character designs that might make for a fun addition to the set for every 1,000 supporter milestone.
