Lestat de Lioncourt has officially traded the shadows for the spotlight. Today, AMC Networks and Lakeshore Records dropped “Long Face,” the debut single from the world’s first immortal rockstar (portrayed by Sam Reid). The track is now available on all major digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, marking the first of several planned releases leading up to the summer debut of “The Vampire Lestat” on AMC and AMC+.
The track was written by series composer Daniel Hart, who looked to a legendary “chameleon” for inspiration.
“We decided early on to make David Bowie a big influence for Lestat’s musical style and persona, and there’s certainly some Ziggy Stardust in this song,” Hart said. “Expect Lestat to change his musical colors throughout the season as he discovers how to remain true to himself and how to express that truth on stage every night.”
The upcoming season promises a rock-and-roll odyssey, following Lestat on an electric multi-city tour while he is haunted by “muses” from his rebellious past. As Lestat’s stardom explodes, he gains unprecedented influence over both humans and the undead. This power shift comes at a volatile time as the world faces the Great Conversion—a mysterious and unnatural surge in the vampire population.
Joining Reid in the new season are returning stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Delainey Hayles, with Jennifer Ehle joining the cast. The series is executive produced by Mark Johnson, creator, writer, and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice.
