Look Out Detective Pikachu, Here Comes Detective Frankenstein?

CBS has been on a hot streak as of late when it comes to original horror and horror-adjacent shows. The network picked up Jordan Peele’s reboot of the classic television series “The Twilight Zone” and earlier this week it was announced they’ll be doing a new television series adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand,” both of which will be part of the network’s streaming service CBS All Access. But of the more bizarre horror-esque titles to be announced from the network is a new pilot loosely adapted from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, that just so happens to be called, “Frankenstein.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the pilot is about a San Francisco homicide detective who “is mysteriously brought back to life after being killed in the line of duty. But as he resumes his old life and he and his wife realize he isn’t the same person he used to be, they zero in on the strange man behind his resurrection – Dr. Victor Frankenstein.”

If picked up, the drama pilot could turn into a series for next season’s primetime lineup.

What are your thoughts on a “Frankenstein’s Monster: Homicide Detective” concept? Seems a bit too ridiculous for my tastes and is leveraging the Frankenstein name only to generate interest.
