‘The Lost Boys’ Retooled Pilot to be Shot This Fall

The Lost Boys

Earlier this year I shared that The CW had ordered a pilot for a TV series based on the cult classic The Lost Boys. Unfortunately after the initial run at a script and concept the show didn’t go to pilot, but the project’s executive producer Rob Thomas told Deadline last week that a retooled pilot could be shot this fall.

The CW passed on the show back in May feeling that the initial script was too “outside of the box,” but kept the project alive looking to writer Heather Mitchell to rework the script based on the network’s feedback.

“Heather Mitchell, loves the original movie and is eager to make the series look a little bit more like the original Lost Boys,” Thomas told Deadline. Adding that the rewrite of the pilot is not a full rewrite and should only impact about 40% of the script.

The new pilot will also feature a new cast with only Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro, being extended for the retooled pilot. Rahini was cast to play a new character by the name of Stella, who is based on the character Star from the 1987 film and Shapiro was cast to play David, the leader of the vampire biker gang, famously played by Kiefer Sutherland in The Lost Boys film.

If all goes according to plan Thomas says the retooled The Lost Boys pilot will be shot this fall.
