I Hate This Place Elena's Edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 with secret letter from Elena and artbook.

Video game publisher and distributor Meridiem has announced a physical release for “I Hate This Place,” the highly anticipated open-world survival-horror title. The news comes just ahead of the game’s digital launch this Thursday, January 29, 2026.

Developed by Rock Square Thunder and published digitally by Broken Mirror Games (a Bloober Team label) and Feardemic in partnership with Skybound Entertainment, the game is a love letter to ’80s horror and comic book aesthetics.

While digital players can jump in this week, collectors will have to wait until April 9, 2026, for the physical boxed version. Meridiem is producing the “Elena’s Edition” exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.

This limited release will be the only physical version available during the launch window and includes:

  • A physical copy of the game
  • Special effect cover art
  • A “secret letter” from the protagonist, Elena
  • A high-quality Artbook featuring the game’s bold comic-inspired visuals

Inspired by the Eisner Award-nominated Skybound comic series by Kyle Starks and Artyom Topilin, “I Hate This Place” puts players in the shoes of Elena. After she and a friend unwittingly summon a malevolent force at a rural ranch, the struggle for survival begins.

The gameplay is a craft-focused, isometric experience where sound is your greatest enemy. Many of the world’s twisted monsters hunt by noise, forcing players to scavenge, build, and use stealth to survive a reality-warping nightmare drenched in ’80s flair.

“I Hate This Place: Elena’s Edition” is available for pre-order now.
