Broken Mirror Games, in partnership with Skybound Entertainment, has released a new story trailer for the open-world survival horror game, “I Hate This Place.” The new story trailer offers players a brief glimpse into the twisted tale unfolding on Rutherford Ranch.
The trailer also comes with a revised release date. The game, initially slated for a November 7, 2025, release, has been pushed back to January 29, 2026. Developer Rock Square Thunder recently decided they wanted a little more time to better incorporate some changes and features gathered from community feedback.
“We had a lot of good feedback gathered from events like PAX, Gamescom, Tokyo Gameshow, and then from our recent public demo on Steam,” said Janusz Tarczykowski, Game Director at Rock Square Thunder. “The vision for the game stays the same, but this feedback highlighted a few tweaks or features that would really help the game feel just that much better. As we got closer and closer to release, we had to keep moving many of these additions to post-launch support.
We feel the game deserves to make a good first impression, so we rethought things and, together with Broken Mirror Games, decided to move the date to January 2026. We know it’s last-minute, but we hope fans will understand. We’re doing a multipatform launch, so if we want to get these changes in and tested on all versions, we’d need a few more weeks.”
Inspired by the comic book series of the same name, “I Hate This Place” is a craft-focused, isometric survival horror game filled with twisted monsters and warped realities, all wrapped in a bold comic book art style and dripping with an ’80s horror vibe.
Players take on the role of Elena, whose fight for survival begins when she and her friend unwittingly summon a malevolent force known as The Horned Man. Outmatched and hunted in a hostile world, players will need to stay vigilant, loot their surroundings, and pick their battles carefully against formidable foes, many of which hunt you by sound.
At launch, the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
