On Wednesday, Vertical released the official trailer and poster for the upcoming sci-fi psychological thriller, “The Astronaut,” premiering in theaters on October 17, 2025.
The film, which premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, is the debut feature from writer-director Jess Varley. The film stars Kate Mara (“Fantastic Four”) as astronaut Sam Walker, who, upon crash-landing back to Earth, is discovered alive in a punctured capsule off the Atlantic coast. General William Harris (Laurence Fishburne, “The Matrix” franchise) places her in quarantine under strict NASA surveillance for rehabilitation and testing. But as disturbing events escalate, she begins to fear that something extraterrestrial has followed her home. Gabriel Luna (“The Last Of Us”), Ivana Milicevic (“Sherlock & Daughter”), and Macy Gray (“Domino”) also star.
