Mob Entertainment, the studio behind the hit horror franchise Poppy Playtime, has announced Escape From Playtime, a new co-op survival horror game set inside the infamous Playtime Co. factory.
The one-to-four-player online title puts players in control of the Smiling Critters, the wide-eyed toy line introduced in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3. Tasked with scavenging materials for a mysterious voice promising freedom, players must navigate dark corridors, solve puzzles, and evade lethal toy monstrosities.
“We’ve always loved the idea that Playtime Co. is this huge, awful place with more hiding inside of it than anyone has seen,” said Brandon James, Game Director, Mob Entertainment. “Paired with our passion for exploring and building multiplayer experiences in this world, where Escape From Playtime started, and working together with our community, we’re creating a game that will continue to deliver excitement and surprises. And of course, a good jump scare or two.”
Each run sends teams into dynamically changing sections of the facility, including warehouses, classrooms, and testing labs. Players must balance teamwork and stealth to haul resources back to their mysterious benefactor while evading stalking monstrosities.
Proximity voice chat adds high-stakes tension to the gameplay: while coordination is vital to survival, a loud whisper can instantly draw predators to a team’s location. Successful runs unlock clues that tie directly into the broader Poppy Playtime lore, raising questions about the true motives behind the mysterious Voice.
Mob Entertainment plans to launch the title in Early Access, allowing player feedback to shape future development. The initial release will feature the complete eight-character Smiling Critter roster, a starter zone, and a core enemy lineup, with additional zones and features planned for post-launch updates.
