Rick & Michonne Return in New Trailer for ‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’

AMC has released a first-look trailer for the highly anticipated new “The Walking Dead” series “The Ones Who Live,” starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, reprising their roles as Rick Grimes and Michonne. The series will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on February 25.

According to the synopsis of the six-episode series, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” presents an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?

Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes was last seen in season nine of “The Walking Dead,” where he was believed to be dead as a result of an explosion, only to be whisked away in a helicopter by the authoritarian Civic Republic. Michonne was last seen in season 10 of the series when she left the group to head north to search for Rick. The new series will pick up several years later, with Michonne still on the hunt and Rick trying to escape the powerful military regime.

The trailer also features several familiar faces from across The Walking Dead Universe, including Jadis, played by Pollyanna McIntosh, from “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” and Bailey (Andrew Bachelor) and Aiden (Breeda Wool), the two survivors that Michonne helped when she set out in search of Rick.

“The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” is executive-produced by Showrunner Scott M. Gimple, Lincoln, Gurira, Denise Huth, and Brian Bockrath.
