The newly established nonprofit, Silverlake Scream Show, is inviting film fanatics to break out their Halloween costumes early and have some Summerween fun at Summer Shriek. Presented by iam8bit, Summer Shriek is a one-night horror celebration and fundraiser taking place on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at El Cid in Silverlake.
A love letter to indie horror and community creativity, Summer Shriek will feature a lineup of original, spooky short films, a Halloween costume party, and local vendors, including Video Hero, Crystal Visions, and Harum Scarum. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win giveaways from local businesses, including Horror Vibes Coffee, Killer Fitness, Mother Knows, and more. Proceeds from the event support the nonprofit’s annual Halloween showcase and the seven up-and-coming filmmakers creating original horror shorts for this year’s program.
“We’re throwing a party for horror lovers, filmmakers, and anyone who just misses Halloween as much as we do,” said Charlie Schwan, President of Silverlake Scream Show. “It will be a great night out, and every ticket goes toward helping local, indie filmmakers bring their scary stories to life.”
Costumes are encouraged with a theme that’s Midsommar Massacre/Bloody Beach Day. Think summer, but make it bloody.
Tickets for Summer Shriek are available now through Eventbrite for just $10, or will be $15 at the door.
