Teaser Arrives for HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’

HBO has released an official teaser for its upcoming drama series, “The Last of Us,” based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same name.

Starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, the series takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Fans of the game will notice a number of similarities between the game and the trailer, from signage to near identical shot framing. This has been a theme as more comes out about the series and is to some degree expected since the game’s Creative Director, Neil Druckmann, is serving as the show’s Co-Creator, Executive Producer, Writer, and Director.

Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Jeffrey Pierce, and Anna Torv also star in the series, which is set to arrive on HBOMax sometime in 2023.
