On Thursday, Warner Bros. released the official trailer for “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” the ninth entry in the Conjuring universe and the final film in the franchise centered around paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reunite as the Warrens in a film based on the real-life investigation of the haunting of the Smurl family in West Pittston, Pennsylvania, in 1986. The case was the last high-profile investigation by the Warrens and dealt with an alleged violent demonic presence in the family home.
Farmiga and Wilson star alongside Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy, who portray Ed and Lorraine’s daughter Judy Warren and her boyfriend, Tony Spera, as well as Steve Coulter returning as Father Gordon, Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kรญla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, John Brotherton, and Shannon Kook.
“The Conjuring: Last Rites” is directed by franchise veteran Michael Chaves, who helmed the Conjuring universe films “The Curse of La Llorona,” “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” and “The Nun II.”
The film will be released in theaters and IMAX in North America on September 5, 2025.
