[WATCH] Trailer for Third Conjuring Film Takes On Real-Life Supernatural Murder Case

Warner Bros. today released the official trailer for the third “The Conjuring” film, “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.”

Directed by Michael Chaves and written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and James Wan, the latest film in “The Conjuring” universe is inspired by the real life murder trial of Arne Johnson. Known as the “Devil Made Me Do It” case, it’s the first known court case in the United States in which the defense sought to prove innocence based upon the defendant’s claim of demonic possession. Ed and Lorraine Warren, the real-life paranormal investigators who inspired the “The Conjuring” films, were sought out to aid the Johnson family in proving Arne was in fact possessed.

“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” reveals a chilling story of terror and murder. One of the most sensational cases from the Warren’s files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before.

Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return to star as Lorraine and Ed Warren. The film also stars Ruairi O’Connor (“The Spanish Princess”), Sarah Catherine Hook (“Monsterland”) and Julian Hilliard (“Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” “The Haunting of Hill House”).

“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” hits theaters and HBO Max on June 4, 2021.
