[WATCH] Wife of Arne Johnson Recounts Real-Life Events That Inspired Latest ‘The Conjuring’ Film in New Featurette

In 1981, Arne Johnson was convicted of first-degree manslaughter for the killing of his landlord, Alan Bono. During the case Johnson’s defense argued that he was possessed by a demon that once inhabited the body of an 11-year-old boy who Johnson lived with. Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren investigated the case of the young boy and helped plead Johnson’s innocence on the account of demonic possession. The case, which is famously known as “The Devil Made Me Do It” case, is the premise of the upcoming third film in “The Conjuring” franchise and in a new featurette the real-life wife of Arne Johnson recounts the events that inspired the film.

This is the second featurette Warner Bros. Pictures has released this week. Earlier in the week the studio released a featurette with producer James Wan and director Michael Chaves discussing the new direction the film takes the franchise and some of the inspiration behind it.

“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” is scheduled to premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on June 4, 2021.
