The Hex Girls, the all-girl eco-goth band who made their first appearance in the 1999 movie “Scooby-Doo and the Witch’s Ghost,” are getting their very own young adult novel. “The Hex Girls: A Rogue Thorn” is coming to bookstores on August 26, 2025, from author Lily Meade.

The book tells an all-new story centered around Thorn, Luna, and Dusk, who move to Coolsville looking for a fresh start after a series of events left their hometown and Thorn’s reputation in shambles. But things take a turn for the worse when a mysterious mist starts killing crops and making people sick wherever Thorn goes.

As her band falls apart, Thorn turns to the Mystery Inc. gang to help solve the mystery surrounding the band and to prove her innocence. While the gang thinks that Thornโ€™s magical powers are the key to stopping the growing threat to Coolsville, Thorn is sure magic will only bring more harm than goodโ€”and that revealing her true nature would make her an outsider forever. Can they solve the mystery and save Coolsville before someone gets seriously hurt. . . or worse?

The book mixes classic Scooby-Doo antics with darker, more mysterious horrors, making it perfect for YA readers. The book is available for pre-order now from several book retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target.
