Earlier this month, The Queen Mary announced the return of its Movie Night Market. The summer movie series and outdoor market is scheduled to return on Friday, June 13, 2025. To kick things off, the event was going to have a Spooktacular Bazaar twist on the Night Market paired with a screening of “The Shining,” but on Thursday, the historic oceanliner took to social media to announce they’d be kicking things off with “Practical Magic.”
The Queen Mary first announced that “The Shining” would not be shown on Monday and offered fans the opportunity to vote for which film would be shown instead. “Practical Magic” came out on top.
The change in movie appears to be due to licensing. In a now-deleted comment on Instagram, The Queen Mary shared with one commenter that their license to show the film had expired, so they had to go with a different title. Many commenters noted frustration with the change since they had bought tickets to the event, hoping to see “The Shining” and tickets are nonrefundable. One commenter went as far as to say, “Ugh. I bought my ticket for The Shining. This is VERY MUCH NOT THAT.”
The Queen Mary’s Movie Night Market will take place from 5 PM to 10 PM and features local food vendors, pop-up shops, live music, and a beer garden. When the sun goes down, guests can settle in under the stars for the screening of “Practical Magic.”
Tickets for the event are just $15 and areย on sale now.
The event will also be held on July 16 and August 3 with screenings of โThe Gooniesโ and โRatatouille.โ For more information on this yearโs Movie Night Market and other upcoming events, visit QueenMary.com.
