‘They Will Kill You’ To Begin Streaming Exlusively on HBO Max

Zazie Beetz in They Will Kill You

“They Will Kill You,” the high-octane horror-comedy starring Zazie Beetz (“Atlanta”), Myha’La (“Industry”), Paterson Joseph (“Wonka”), Tom Felton (The “Harry Potter” franchise), Heather Graham (“Austin Powers”), and Patricia Arquette (“Severance”) will make its global streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max on Friday, June 12, 2026. The streaming release will be followed by a linear premiere on HBO on Saturday, June 13 at 8 p.m. ET.

Directed by Kirill Sokolov (“Why Don’t You Just Die!”), “They Will Kill You” is the blood-soaked tale of Asia Reaves (Beetz), a young woman who takes a housekeeping job at The Virgil—a mysterious New York City high-rise notorious for its wealthy tenants and a string of unsolved disappearances. Once inside, she soon realizes the building is a demonic cult’s mysterious and twisted death-trap of a lair, forcing her to fight for her life or risk becoming their next offering to a dark deity.

The film is looking for a second life on streaming after a rough theatrical run, where it grossed just $19.3 million worldwide against a $20 million production budget. Despite underperforming at the box office, those who did see it mostly seem to enjoy it, with a current 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Packed with epic kills and wickedly dark humor, the film earned my own praise for its production design, phenomenal fight choreography, and Beetz’s standout performance.

“They Will Kill You” was written by Sokolov & Alex Litvak. It was produced by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Dan Kagan, with Russell Ackerman, John Schoenfelder, Carl Hampe, Litvak, and Sokolov serving as executive producers.
