Two Horror Titles Among PS Plus and Xbox Live Free Games in October

Both Xbox and Playstation have announced their free titles that will be made available to subscribers of their respective paid online services and just in time for Halloween, both consoles are offering gamers a horror game to add to their collection.

Beginning October 1, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download the remastered version of “The Last Of Us” on PS4. “The Last Of Us Remastered” includes both “The Last Of Us” and “The Last Of Us: Left Behind,” which gives you the chance to get caught up or revisit the franchise ahead of the “The Last Of Us Part II,” which is scheduled to be released on February 21, 2020.

The Last of Us takes place 20 years after a pandemic has radically changed civilization, where infected humans run wild and survivors kill each other for food, weapons – whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a violent survivor, is hired to smuggle a 14 year-old girl, Ellie, out of an oppressive military quarantine zone, but what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal journey across the U.S.

Over on Xbox, Xbox Live subscribers will be able to pick up “Friday the 13th: The Game” for free on the Xbox One beginning October 16. While the game hasn’t seen any new content thanks to the current legal battle over Friday the 13th licensing, the game is still a lot of fun.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a third-person horror, survival game where players take on the role of a teen counselor, or for the first time ever, Jason Voorhees. You and six other unlucky souls will do everything possible to escape and survive while the most well-known killer in the world tracks you down and brutally slaughters you.

Lack of new content seemed to slow the number of players playing “Friday the 13th: The Game” when I last played it, so hopefully, with it being offered for free, we’ll see an uptick in new camp counselors looking to survive the night.

Happy gaming!
