Universal Announces Cancellation of Halloween Horror Nights in Both Hollywood and Orlando Due to COVID-19

Universal Studios has announced that the 2020 dates for Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort have been canceled.

The theme park posted the following statement on social media regarding the event:

Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort have made the difficult decision to not hold Halloween Horror Nights events this year. Universal Studios Hollywood continues to face ongoing business restrictions and uncertainty around its opening timeframe. Universal Orlando Resort will be focusing exclusively on opening its theme parks for daytime guests, using the enhanced health and safety procedures already in place.

We know this decision will disappoint our fans and guests. We are disappointed, too. But we look forward to creating an amazing event in 20201.

For those that may have already purchased tickets to Orlando’s 2020 event, Halloween Horror Nights is giving guests the option to use their tickets or vacation packages for next year’s event, or they can receive a refund. These options also apply to R.I.P. Tours and Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tours. Guests who purchased tickets or booked a vacation package can call 877-801-9720 for assistance. More details on ticket refunds can be found here.

The news is the latest in a string of disappointing Halloween event announcements. Late last month, Epic Entertainment Group, the production company behind Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor in Long Beach, CA, and Dark Horizon: Point of No Return in Orlando, FL announced the cancellation of their 2020 events.
