The viral indie horror hit, “The Cabin Factory,” is bringing its unique blend of liminal terror to consoles. The game, which challenges players to inspect cabins and vote on whether they are haunted, will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S & X, and Xbox One on October 16, 2025.
Inspired by psychological horror walking simulators like “The Exit 8” and “POOLS,” The Cabin Factory is a unique “spot-the-difference” game set in eerie liminal spaces. Your simple job is to distinguish the artificially scary from the truly supernatural by inspecting every cabin prop and determining its safety.
Pay close attention to every room. Is there a visual anomaly? Something moving that shouldn’t be? If you spot a true haunting, you must turn back immediately and press ‘Danger.’ If the cabin is safe, press ‘Clear.’ The final decision is yours, but be warned: a wrong choice will result in a penalty.
The game, created by indie dev couple International Cat Studios and published by Future Friends Games, initially launched on Steam in December 2024. It quickly became a viral sensation, gaining traction multiple times across TikTok and X, and garnering millions of views.
The console release will include achievements for PlayStation and Xbox. The Supporter’s Pack DLC will not be available on consoles.
“The Cabin Factory” is available to wishlist now on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Nintendo Store.
