[WATCH] Netflix Movie Preview Teases Plenty of Hot Summer Horror

Netflix on Tuesday released its Summer Movie preview, teasing several titles headed to the streaming platform for summer 2021. Like last year, the streaming platform is promising new movies every week over summer. With over 30 titles set to premiere this summer, there’ll be plenty to watch, but since you’re here you’re probably most interested in the horror and horror adjacent titles. Here’s what Netflix has in store, with premieres slated as early as this week!

Things Heard & Seen

Premiering this Friday, April 29, “Things Heard & Seen stars Amanda Seyfried and tells the story of a Manhattan couple who moves to a historic hamlet in the Hudson Valley and come to discover that their marriage has a sinister darkness, one that rivals their new home’s history.

Oxygen

Premiering May 12, this French survival thriller directed by Alexandre Aja tells the story of a young woman who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. As she’s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare.

Premiering May 14, “The Woman In The Window” is an all-new thriller starring Amy Adams as Anna Fox, a woman confined by her agoraphobia who finds herself keeping tabs on the new family across the street through the windows of her New York City home. After witnessing a brutal crime, secrets begin to unravel and nothing and no one are what they seem.

Army Of The Dead

The highly anticipated zombie action heist film from Zack Snyder hits select theaters and Netflix on May 21. The star-studded film follows a group of mercenaries who, after Las Vegas becomes the epicenter of a zombie outbreak, plan to head into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

Premiering May 26, a research experiment about the afterlife goes awry, when Glar and Wee, two medical doctor buddies see a ‘ghost’ with their own eyes for the first time, an encounter that spawns an insatiable binge to find a scientific explanation for ghostly spirits, and to find proof of an afterlife. Their fixation and reckless pursuit of knowledge will take them down a rabbit hole that will cost them their friendship, and their loved ones.

Blood Red Sky

Lookout “Snakes on a Plane,” cuz Netflix has a vampire on a plane! Premiering in July, this film tells the story of a woman with a mysterious illness who is forced into action when a group of terrorists attempt to hijack a transatlantic overnight flight. In order to protect her son she will have to reveal a dark secret, and unleash the vampire within that she fought to hide.

Fear Street Trilogy

Netflix saved the best for last in its Summer Preview trailer and at 2:28 into it we get another look at the “Fear Street Trilogy,” a trio of films being adapted from R.L. Stine’s best-selling horror series of the same name. Netflix gave us an early tease of the trilogy when it announced its 2021 film slate back in January, but this new clip features Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink, and based on the blood spatter on her face at the end of the clip, I’m not thinking things end too well. The Fear Street Trilogy still does not have a release date, but is confirmed for a summer 2021 release.
