[WATCH] Trailer for Stranger Things Season 3 Shows Us One Hell of a Summer

“Stranger Things” is doubling down on the season 3 tagline, “One summer can change everything,” and based on the new trailer released by Netflix this morning there is definitely change afoot.

The new trailer, which is mostly set to The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” introduces us to a much more grown up cast of characters. Though it’s only a year after the events that took place in season 2, the kids of Hawkins, while still having fun, are clearly past their days of D&D in the basement and are embracing being a teenager and the freedom it brings during summer break.

The trailer also introduces us to a cast of new characters, including Mayor Kline, played by actor Cary Elwes, Bruce, played by Jake Busey, and a new beast from the Upside Down that looks meaner and nastier than anything we have seen in the last two seasons.

Though details on season 3 are still slim, imagery and scenes featured in the trailer suggests elements of the upcoming season’s plot. From it we can gather that:

  • Some Hawkins residents are not happy about the new Starcourt Mall
  • Mayor Kline will be a major character in this seasons arc, perhaps creating a power shift with Hopper
  • It looks like Billy might have been infected with something? Perhaps this is tied to the episode seven titled, “The Bite”
  • Eleven will again find herself in the Upside Down
  • There is likely some sort of organization or government entity looking to interfere with things in Hawkins. You know, cuz there’s a guy cruising a funhouse maze with a silenced pistol

Stranger Things 3 premieres on Netflix on July 4, 2019. What did you think of the trailer and what are you most excited for? Let me know in the comments or on social media!
