Netflix has officially kicked off production for Wednesday Season 3 in Ireland—and the guest list features several familiar faces from Tim Burton’s past.
Leading the pack of newcomers is Winona Ryder, marking a massive full-circle moment for the Burton-verse. Ryder, who rose to fame as Lydia Deetz in the 1988 classic “Beetlejuice,” most recently shared the screen with “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega in 2024’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” After playing Ortega’s mother on the big screen, fans are already speculating how their chemistry will translate to the eerie world of Nevermore Academy.
Ryder isn’t the only Burton alum joining the fray. The Season 3 roster is a “who’s who” of the director’s cinematic history. Other additions from Burton’s past projects include Chris Sarandon, who played the speaking voice of Jack Skellington in “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” and Noah Taylor, who played Mr. Bucket in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
The trio joins previously announced Burton collaborator Eva Green, who has appeared in three of Burton’s films: “Dark Shadows,” “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” and “Dumbo.” Green will play the enigmatic and “missing” Aunt Ophelia.
Also joining the cast are Oscar Morgan (“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”) and Kennedy Moyer (“Task”).
While details on the upcoming season are slim, series co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough says it will dig deeper into the characters fans have come to love, expand the world of “Wednesday,” and peel back even more layers of the Addams family’s darkest secrets.
