Last week, a Cadillac Super Bowl spot showed us what Kim Boggs from Edward Scissorhands is up to 31 years after the film. Now, Mountain Dew is giving us a glimpse into the life of another character we haven’t seen in 31 years, Billy Peltzer.
Played by Zach Galligan, Billy Peltzer is, of course, the main protagonist and the keeper of the lovable Mogwai Gizmo in Gremlins and the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch. In a new ad for MTN DEW Zero Sugar, we learn that 31 years after the events of Gremlins 2, Billy is still hanging out with Gizmo, has started a family, and apparently still has trouble following the rules of keeping a Mogwai.
When Billy lets Gizmo try his MTN DEW Zero Sugar, the Mogwai spills the drink all over himself, breaking the second rule of owning a Mogwai, don’t let it get wet. The unfortunate accident causes Gizmo to multiply, blasting small balls of fur across the room. As the craziness ensues, Billy’s daughter walks in, and by her reaction (and the fact she has a Mogwai of her own sitting on her shoulder), we have to assume this isn’t the first time dad’s messed up.
