Google Announces New Stranger Things and Star Wars AR Experiences for Pixel Phones

Google has announced an all-new AR feature for its Pixel phones called AR Stickers.  The new feature allows you to add virtual characters and playful emojis directly into your photos and videos and they are partnering with franchises like Star Wars and Stranger Things to kick things off.

AR Stickers are exclusive to Pixel phones and are rolling out to all Pixel phones running Android 8.1 Oreo over the coming days, allowing users to bring their favorite characters from these popular franchises into their world and more importantly, into their photos and videos.  But the fun doesn’t end there.  Google says more AR sticker packs will be released in the future stressing that holidays and big pop culture moments will likely generate new stickers.

Google also previewed other AR experiences being built by their partners including AR LEGO building and real-time League of Legends matches experienced through an AR map. At the time of this writing the new feature hadn’t pushed to my phone, but I’ll be sure to post some fun photos with the Stranger Things kids as soon as it does!
