Soon you’ll be able to terrorize campers on the go. In a Variety exclusive, it was revealed that “Friday the 13th: The Game” will be released on the Nintendo Switch this spring.Though the name of the new edition is a bit of a mouthful, “Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Switch Edition,” the game will come with everything you need to terrorize Crystal Lake for months to come. The upcoming edition includes all released content and paid DLC, including every Jason Kill Pack, both Counselor Clothing Packs, and the Emote Party Pack. The only content excluded from the new edition is content that was released for backer’s of the original game releases Kickstarter. The Nintendo Switch release mirrors the edition of the game that released last September on Xbox One and PS4.Despite a new console release, the announcement was quick to remind us of the legal struggles behind the game and the overall Friday the 13th franchise.“We can’t add any content, whatsoever. Nada. Not even a new tree or rock,” said Creative Director Wes Keltner. “We can only focus on console-dedicated servers, bug fixes, and maintenance.” The limitations are a result of an ongoing legal battle over the Friday the 13th franchise instigated by the original screenwriter, Victor Miller. Miller is attempting to reclaim the rights to his original characters that were used in the 1980 original movie and subsequent releases.Though the release was announced, an exact release date has not yet been revealed.
