Fortnitemares Arrives, Unveiling New Horror Icons, Including Halloween Horror Nights Icons Jack the Clown and HamiKuma

Epic Games dropped the new gameplay trailer for Fortnitemares on Thursday, unleashing a star-studded lineup of horror legends, video game favorites, and theme park icons upon the island.

While previous cinematic teasers confirmed heavy hitters like Freddy Krueger and Beetlejuice, Thursday’s trailer revealed a slew of unannounced crossovers coming throughout October.

New characters featured in the trailer include Dek from “Predator: Badlands,” “Hazbin Hotel” residents Charlie Morningstar, Alastor, and Vaggie, The Knight from Hollow Knight, and “Black Clover” fan-favorites Yuno and Noelle Silva. Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights icons Jack the Clown and HamiKuma are also joining the roster, alongside confirmed arrivals from “Obsession.”

The event brings dark corruption across Battle Royale, Horde Rush, and Reload modes. Players can explore newly corrupted map locations, including Freaky Fields and Nightmare Neighborhood, where Freddy Krueger awaits. Defeating Krueger grants “Freddy’s Nightmare,” an item that lets players teleport and slash nearby opponents.

The update also refreshes the weapon pool with the new Bonerattler SMG alongside returning classics like the Wood Stake Shotgun and Pumpkin Launcher.

Gameplay shifts introduce cursed cartridge Overrides that grant traits such as sprint invisibility, low-health damage boosts, or squad-wide Halloween prop disguises. The event also brings new Sprites to the island, including the Spooky Dash, Vampire, Deer, and Dumpster Dive Sprites, with the Honey and Obsession Sprites arriving Oct. 15.

Roaming the island as open-world bosses are the animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy’s. Defeating an animatronic allows players to possess it and pilot the suit in combat. If health reaches zero, players gain a brief window of invulnerability before the shell shatters, returning them to the fight.

Rounding out the event calendar, Horde Rush mode has returned, while Reload introduces the updated Nitemare Island on Oct. 8 alongside the Stranger Things and Squid Grounds maps.

Five Nights at Freddy’s outfits that show battle damage are now live in the Shop. “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” “Black Clover,” Hollow Knight, 99 Nights in the Forest, “Hazbin Hotel,” “The Purge,” “Obsession,” “Slender Man,” “Beetlejuice,” “Predator: Badlands,” and Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights Outfits and accessories follow throughout October.
