Ancient Irish folklore takes a terrifying turn this February as Cineverse prepares to unleash “The Morrigan.” The suspenseful horror from director Colum Eastwood will debut on Digital and Video on Demand on February 3, 2026.
The film follows an archaeologist specializing in Gaelic mythology who travels with her teenage daughter to a remote region of Ireland to excavate a long-forgotten tomb. Their discovery takes a dark turn when they inadvertently release The Morrigan, a vengeful Pagan War Goddess, forcing mother and daughter into a desperate fight for survival.
“The Morrigan” stars Saffron Burrows (“You”), Toby Stephens (“Black Sails”), and James Cosmo (“Braveheart”).
“This film is deeply personal to me, drawing on the stories and landscapes I grew up with,” said director Colum Eastwood. That personal touch resonated on the festival circuit; after its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh, the film earned praise at Tallinn Black Nights and the Tromsø International Film Festival.
Produced by Ashley Holberry and Gavin Cosmo Mehrtens of Cowboy Cosmonaut, the North American distribution deal was negotiated by Alliance Media Partners.
