Within just one hour of launching on Kickstarter, the award-winning book and toy set “Bones is Back: A Family Tradition for Halloween” reached its full funding goal, and reached over 300% in funding in just two days โdemonstrating the demand for a fresh, fun, and interactive way for families to celebrate Halloween together.
Though inspired by the beloved Elf on the Shelf, which has a “hands off” approach to the holiday tradition, “Bones is Back” has a Halloween twist that emphasizes interaction, imagination, and encourages positive behavior. Every day in October, Bones encourages kids to play, pose, and prank, creating lasting memories and laughter.
“Bones is Back” was created by Dr. Marc Fetscherin, a father of two daughters. The idea was inspired by his daughters’ curious question, “Why doesn’t our skeleton move like the Elf?” This simple question evolved into a beloved family tradition. This dad-daughter project grew last year into a book that tells the story of Bones, a mischievous little skeleton who comes to life each night, pulling pranks and leaving surprises. The book teaches that Halloween is more than just candyโit’s a time for creativity, fun, and family connections. It has already received five awards, including Book of the Year from Creative Child Magazine in the categories of Interactive Holiday Books and Books That Encourage Positive Behavior, and features 40 pages of Halloween fun.
The book and toy set have just launched on Kickstarter to bring Bones, the adorable little skeleton, to life. Bones stands 10.31 inches tallโa playful nod to Halloween night (10/31)โand glows in the dark after sun exposure, adding an extra touch of fun and magic! With articulated joints, he’s as flexible as he is fun, allowing kids to pose and play with Bones in different ways.
