Drunk History Parodies ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ in Premiere Episode Dedicated to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein

Earlier this week Comedy Central’s “Drunk History” returned for its sixth season. For the season premiere the series parodied “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” with an episode titled “Are You Afraid of the Drunk?” where comedian Rich Fulcher tells the story of how Mary Shelley created her classic novel “Frankenstein.”

In typical “Drunk History” fashion, the show loosely recounts the factual events surrounding the opium-fueled getaway at Lord Byron’s estate at Lake Geneva. The place where Mary Shelley first constructed the story that would become “Frankenstein,” as a part of a scary stories competition.

Throughout the episode the story is reenacted by a star-studded cast that includes Evan Rachel Wood as Mary Shelley, Seth Rogen as Victor Frankenstein, Elijah Wood as Percy Shelley, and Will Ferrell as Frankenstein’s monster. A clip of the episode can be seen below, or you can stream the full version of the episode on the Comedy Central website.

Of all the tings you’ll learn about Mary Shelley and “Frankenstein” in this episode, perhaps the most important is that the monsters name is not Frankenstein. His name is in fact, Taco.
