Hand-drawn Horror Adventure ‘Fevercide’ Announced

Developer RedBlack Spade has announced “Fevercide,” a new metroidvania-style game with horror and adventure elements.

Set in an alternate 1930s, where the Russian Empire was never overthrown, the game follows the character Sandra, who lived out a nightmarish childhood surrounded by angry spirits who were drawn to her father and haunted their home. But when her father mysteriously disappeared, so did the ghastly tormentors. The haunting resumes when a letter arrives 10 years later, addressed to him, with a train ticket from a long-abandoned station. This time, the spirits aren’t after her father. They’re after her.

Sandra boards the ghostly train and descends through the circles of hell with her retinue of demons. Along the way, she confronts the fears she tried to forget and the questions she never dared to ask. To uncover the truth, she must face the past–and take responsibility for her father’s sins.

“Fevercide” features hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation crafted in the classic tradition and enriched by its distinct Art Deco style. As Sandra, players will explore intricate locations full of secrets, where they can interact with a diverse cast of NPCs, solve puzzles, uncover questsโ€ฆ rescue lost cats, communicate with ghosts, and find the keys to new areas. The game also features over 150 items, allowing players to combine weapons with magic to customize their playing style based on their situational needs.

While a release window for “Fevercide” has not been announced, the game is available now to wishlist on Steam.
