Tickets are officially on sale for the fifth annual Silverlake Scream Show, a local staple blending indie horror premieres with a full-scale Halloween celebration. The event takes place Saturday, Oct. 24, at the historic Mica Studios.
This year’s anthology is framed inside a retro video rental store, where employees (Felix Wolfe and Wyatt Miller) and an unwitting customer (Emmie Ray) pop in a rumored “cursed” DVD. The framing story connects seven original horror shorts from nine emerging directors, spanning everything from boxed demons and contagious rashes to a haunted duvet cover and an ancient water god.
This year’s filmmaker lineup includes Ryan Beene, Perry Billett, Ben Granger, Chelsea Lutz, Georga Morgan-Fleming, José Herrera, Hannah Saidiner, John Martinez, and Micah Schultz.
Beyond the screen, the Scream Show doubles as an immersive Halloween costume party highlighting Los Angeles’ indie horror community. Costumes are strongly encouraged, and attendees can expect a live DJ, local pop-up vendors, food trucks, and craft cocktails provided by Dulce Vida Tequila.
“Silverlake Scream Show isn’t just a screening or Halloween party,” said Marshall Kistner, producer and Scream Show board member. “It’s a space to build community, network with like-minded horror film fans, and support young, up-and-coming filmmakers, all within the heart of Los Angeles.”
Tickets start at just $20 and are available now on Eventbrite. All proceeds benefit the Silverlake Scream Show, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to spotlighting new voices in horror cinema and supporting independent filmmakers.
