New Horror-Themed Michael Jackson Album Coming This September

A new 14 track Michael Jackson compilation album titled Scream is set to hit stores next month and will feature some of his more spookier tracks.

Two vinyl cover and album variants of Michael Jackson's Scream

While “Thriller” is one of Jackson’s most popular Halloween-appropriate songs, the late artist had a number of other darker songs in his catalog like “Ghosts,” “Scream,” and another Halloween favorite, “Somebody’s Watching Me,” which he recorded with Rockwell.

The albums track list includes:

  1. This Place Hotel
  2. Thriller
  3. Blood on the Dance Floor
  4. Somebody’s Watching Me
  5. Dirty Diana
  6. Torture
  7. Leave Me Alone
  8. Scream
  9. Dangerous
  10. Unbreakable
  11. Xscape
  12. Threatened
  13. Ghosts
  14. Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous (The White Panda Mash-Up)

The albums 14th track is a new one, which mashes up five of Jackson’s more horrific tracks.  You can hear the new mix in the video below.

While nothing has officially connected the two, I am curious if this release somehow coincides with the upcoming CBS animated Michael Jackson Halloween Special. The location at the center of the special takes place at a hotel called This Place Hotel, which happens to be the first track on this album. The special is also expected to close with a spectacular dance finale featuring an animated Jackson, and the new Blood on the Dance Floor mash-up really could lend itself to such a scene. Again, this is just me speculating, but the timing seems quite fitting.

The album is set to be released on deluxe vinyl and CD on September 29.
