Shire Post Mint, an Arkansas-based family business known for minting fantasy coins out of solid metals, has launched its largest and most ambitious Kickstarter project yet: a complete tarot deck minted entirely out of copper.
Over seven years in the making, the 78-coin divination set is based on the classic Rider-Waite Smith deck, featuring 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana designs. The original art is a fascinating blend of inspiration—from the dream realm and the magic in the mundane to the forests and landmarks of Arkansas. Artist Izzy Williamson hand-carved each unique design into a linocut before it was transmuted into a copper coin.
Rewards in the Kickstarter include:
- The Full Tarot Set (all 78 coins) with a guidebook and leather carrying pouch
- A random Three Coin Draw tier with instructions for a simple tarot reading
- Linocut prints hand-pulled by the artist
- The Deluxe Collectors Set: an extremely limited tier that includes a handmade treasure chest and all 22 Major Arcana linocut prints
The coins are struck from pure copper using antique machines at Shire Post Mint’s headquarters in West Fork, Arkansas.
