This week, during The Horror Game Awards’ Midsummer Night’s Scream Showcase, developer Shoreline Games unveiled three distinct new horror titles: Dreadline Express, Sisters of Solitude, and The Funskin Project. Each title offers a different flavor of fear, from psychological dread and isolation to deeply unsettling encounters and stories based on real-life terror.
Dreadline Express
Set aboard the last human train chugging through a dying world, Dreadline Express immerses players in a deeply unsettling H.P. Lovecraft-inspired universe. As a passenger, you’ll collect mysterious cards that piece together fragments of the train’s dark history. By interrogating strange passengers and building your deck, you’ll reconstruct the story before it’s lost forever.
The game promises total narrative freedom—meaning the secrets you uncover and the choices you make will directly dictate how much of the truth (and your sanity) survives the trip.
Dreadline Express is slated for release later this year and is available to wishlist on Steam now.
Sisters of Solitude
If you like your horror rooted in reality, Sisters of Solitude is an isometric pixel-art detective game based on a chilling true story. Inspired by the aesthetic of late-80s and early-90s 8-bit classics, the game tasks players with investigating the remains of an abandoned convent, The Order of Our Lady of Solitude. Decades ago, four sisters conspired to murder their Mother Superior in cold blood, only to be found dead themselves shortly after under mysterious circumstances.
Featuring a haunting chiptune-inspired soundtrack and dream-like pixel art, this promises to be a deeply atmospheric psychological mystery.
Sisters of Solitude is expected to be released later this year and is available to wishlist on Steam now.
The Funskin Project
The Funskin Project is a highly stylized isometric survival-horror adventure. After an unforgiving blizzard halts your journey, you find yourself trapped inside the sprawling castle of the mysterious Baron Fetuccini. Players will have to navigate a non-linear labyrinth, solve cryptic puzzles, and meticulously manage scarce resources—especially since a single encounter can prove fatal. Along the way, you’ll meet fellow trapped survivors; deciding whether or not to assist them could be the key to unlocking the dark secrets of the “Funskin project.”
A release date for The Funskin Project has not been announced; however, a demo is now available to play on Steam.
