Stranger Things 3: The Game to be Released on Same Day as New Season

Yesterday the internet was abuzz with the release of the first official trailer for Netflix’s third season of “Stranger Things.” But in all the excitement about the new season, another announcement was made that flew a bit more under the radar. Nintendo revealed that “Stranger Things 3: The Game” would be released on the same day as season 3.

Developed and published by BonusXP, the same game developer that gave us the original “Stranger Things: The Game” ahead of season 2, “Stranger Things 3: The Game” is the official companion game to the third season of the Netflix Original Series. The new game blends retro 16-bit graphics with modern gameplay mechanics in a beat ’em up, puzzle adventure.

Like in the show, teamwork is at the heart of “Stranger Things 3: The Game.” Fans can team up in two player local co-op or in single player mode alongside an AI partner, in the role of one of twelve characters from the show, each with unique abilities and attributes. Together, they’ll play through familiar events from the series while also uncovering never-before-seen “Stranger Things” secrets, ensuring a fun experience for those new to the world of Stranger Things and series super fans alike!

While yesterday’s announcement was specifically for Nintendo Switch, the shows creators the Duffer Brothers had announced during The Game Awards that the game would also be available on Xbox and PC.

“Stranger Things” season 3 and “Stranger Things 3: The Game” will both be released on July 4, 2019.
