The Drive-In Never Dies: Shudder Confirms ‘The Last Drive-In’ Series Finale and Future Specials

What was expected to be a standard season finale for “The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs” has officially been upped to a series finale. Shudder announced today that tonight’s episode, airing live Friday, March 6 at 9 PM ET on Shudder and AMC+, will serve as the show’s final bow.

Speculation of the end began circulating earlier this week after Joe Bob Briggs posted a cryptic social media video urging fans that they “MUST watch the season finale,” ending with a heartfelt “I love you guys.” Those rumblings have now been confirmed as the “Drive-In” prepares for one last double-feature celebration of genre cinema. For those unable to watch live, the finale will be available on demand starting Sunday, March 8.

However, it’s not all bad news for the Mutant family. Shudder has also greenlit four all-new specials that will debut quarterly through the end of 2026.

The first of these, “Joe Bob’s Wicked Witchy Wingding,” debuts live Friday, April 24 at 9 PM ET during Shudder’s annual “Halfway to Halloween” month-long event. Joe Bob and Darcy will be “rockin’ the Brocken” with an occult double feature, continuing their eternal campaign to establish Walpurgisnacht as an American horror holiday. This special will be available on demand starting on Sunday, April 26.

“Joe Bob Briggs has been a Shudder staple since 2018, when his original 13-movie marathon ‘broke the internet,'” said Courtney Thomasma, EVP, Linear and Streaming Products. “Since then, he and Darcy the Mail Girl have continued to delight Shudder fans with double features and seasonal specials tailored to horror buffs and cinephiles alike, always offering plenty of surprises. We look forward to sharing these four new specials with Drive-In Mutants everywhere.”
