AMC+ and Shudder have set the premiere date for “The Terror: Devil in Silver,” a new installment of the acclaimed horror anthology “The Terror.” The six-episode limited series will debut Thursday, May 7, 2026, with new episodes rolling out weekly. A linear broadcast on AMC is slated for later this year.
Based on the celebrated novel by Victor LaValle, the new season stars Dan Stevens (“Abigail”) as Pepper, a working-class man who—through a bout of bad luck and a short fuse—finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital.
In an institution filled with society’s forgotten souls, Pepper must navigate a hellscape of predatory patients and doctors harboring grim secrets. To find his way out, he must face a mysterious entity that thrives on suffering—only to discover that the truest demons might be the ones living inside him.
The series boasts a massive ensemble cast. Stevens is joined by Judith Light (“Before”), CCH Pounder (“Rustin”), Aasif Mandvi (“Evil”), John Benjamin Hickey (“The Big C”), Stephen Root (“Barry”), Michael Aronov (“The Americans”), Marin Ireland (“Sneaky Pete”), Chinaza Uche (“Silo”), Hampton Fluker (“Shades of Blue”), b (“WeCrashed”), Hayward Leach (“Tom Swift”), and Philip Ettinger (“First Reformed”).
The series is executive produced by Ridley Scott, writers and showrunners Chris Cantwell (“Halt and Catch Fire”) and Victor LaValle, and Karyn Kusama (“Yellowjackets”), who directs the first two episodes.
“Working shoulder to shoulder with Victor LaValle to bring his masterful novel to the screen has been an incredible experience, said Cantwell. “This cast—helmed with grace and strength by Dan Stevens—imbues every one of our characters with dimension, empathy, and soul.”
Courtney Thomasma, AMC Networks’ Executive Vice President of Linear and Streaming Products, adds, “The Terror: Devil in Silver represents everything we love about this anthology – a compelling real-life setting with a veil of supernatural dread. Debuting on the heels of Shudder’s annual Halfway to Halloween programming event serves as a perfect celebration of this kind of elevated genre storytelling.”
The first two seasons of the anthology—which focused on a doomed Arctic naval expedition and a haunted Japanese internment camp—are currently available to stream on AMC+ and Shudder.
