Another popular spooky podcast is getting the green light to become a television series. Earlier this year Amazon released Lore based on the podcast of the same name and now Deadline is reporting that Welcome To Night Vale is being developed into an FX television series.
Welcome to Night Vale is a bi-monthly podcast presented in the format of a local news broadcast for the fictitious desert town of Night Vale. The podcast covers the weather, news, cultural events and the often mysterious happenings taking place in the town.
The podcast was created in 2012 by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor and has been downloaded more than 180 million times worldwide and has expanded to be a touring live show as well as a book series. The new television series is being developed by Sony Pictures Television under the name Night Vale with Gennifer Hutchinson, currently, an Executive Producer of Better Call Saul, adapting the podcast for television.
