Survival Horror The Florist Drops ‘Gardens of Death’ Gameplay Trailer

Independent developer Unclear Games has revealed the first official gameplay trailer for its upcoming botanical survival horror title, The Florist. Dubbed the “Gardens of Death” trailer, the footage showcases a vibrant, terrifying twist on classic genre tropes, combining grotesque floral body horror with old-school fixed camera angles.

Alongside the gameplay reveal, the studio dropped a major platform announcement: The Florist is officially locked in for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to PC via Steam.

The game follows Jessica Park, a courier who arrives in the scenic lakeside town of Joycliffe for a routine, last-minute flower delivery. Her timing couldn’t be worse. Upon arrival, she finds the entire town rapidly descending into absolute chaos as an aggressive, omnipresent floral overgrowth consumes everything—and everyone—in its path.

To escape, Jessica will have to solve intricate environmental puzzles, manage an inventory, and unravel a twisted conspiracy to engineer new life out of human flesh.

The “Gardens of Death” trailer pulls back the curtain on the nightmare organisms mutating through the town, introducing two primary threats:

  • The Seeds: The tragic, hollowed-out residents of Joycliffe. No longer alive, their corpses are puppeted by an aggressive organic affliction that aggressively hunts down living organisms to drain their nutrients.
  • The Harvester: A massive, relentless stalker patrolling the ruins of the town. Carrying a bloodstained sack filled with “unspeakable horrors,” this hulking boss is laser-focused on completing a dark, years-in-the-making ritual. Unclear Games teases that despite his size, he is far from the most dangerous entity hiding in the garden.

Unlike traditional horror games that rely on pitch-black corridors, The Florist uses color, light, and blooming flora to build its tension. Defending yourself in these bright, hand-crafted spaces will require some serious firepower.

The trailer highlights two of Jessica’s primary early-game weapons: the punchy Catclaw Revolver and the crowd-clearing Rosetta Shotgun. However, the developers hint that traditional firearms will only get Jessica so far against the deeper overgrowth, teasing unique, specialized gear designed to rapidly incinerate and dissolve the deadliest plant life later in the game.

The Florist is slated to launch later this year, with final release date details expected in the coming months.
